The City of Three Forks contracts with the Gallatin County Sheriff Office for law enforcement. The contract specifically states the GCSO will enforce the following ordinances:
- 5-1-9 Interfering with Officials, Injuring Property
- 5-2 Storage of Explosives
- 5-3 Open Burning
- 5-4 Garbage and Refuse
- 5-5 Weeds
- 5-6 Abandoned, Wrecked and Junked Vehicles
- 5-7 Community Decary
- 5-8 Three Forks Ponds
- 6-1 Police Regulations
- 6-2 General Offenses

The City created a position for a local Code Compliance Officer to help facilitate adherence to the City Ordinances throughout town, like tall vegetation, community decay, and abandoned vehicles to mention a few. This does not include moving (traffic, parking, speeding) violations, nor does it cover zoning.
