Board Vacancies:

The City advertises “vacancies” for all boards as terms expire, providing for the opportunity for those who would like to “toss their hat in the ring” to apply, as well as we send a letter asking the current board member if they wish to be reconsidered for another term.

  • Zoning & Planning Board has one seat opening up due to a term expiration.  This seat is for a city-limits representative. This is a seven-member board, serving staggered 3-years terms.  The purpose of the Board is to consider applications to the Zoning ordinances which are conditional, or Planned Unit Developments, but also make recommendations to the new Zoning ordinances pursuant to the City’s Growth Policy.  Do you want a say in how Three Forks grows and where?  This is your chance! The appointment is for three years and will expire on December 31, 2028.  This board meets monthly as applications are received (historically 10 times/year) but is currently holding 2 meetings/month to review the new Zoning chapters.
  • Board of Adjustments/Appeals has one seat open due to a resignation.  This is a five-member board, serving staggered 3-year terms.  This board’s purpose is to consider variance requests from the Zoning Ordinance and appeals of the Zoning Official’s or City Council decisions.  This appointment will fill the remainder of the term and expire on 4/30/2026.

If you are interested in serving on a board, please complete the board application available at City Hall or on the City’s website at www.threeforksmontana.us and return it to City Hall.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 285-3431.

All applications will be filed and reviewed by the Council at the time of appointments. Check back often as this is the page we will post vacancies.
