Our City has six council members and a mayor.  The council members each serve staggered four-year terms: three members' terms began January 1, 2020 and expire December 31, 2023; the other three members' terms began January 1, 2022 and expire December 31, 2025.  The Mayor serves a four-year term as well.

Branches of Government

The Legislative branch consists of the City Council, which serves as the governing body of the City of Three Forks.  Any resident who resides in the municipal limits of Three Forks, who is 18 years of age or older, and a citizen of Montana and qualified elector pursuant to Article IV, Section 2 of the Montana Constitution is eligible to hold office.

The Executive branch of our government is the Mayor, who serves as the chief executive and chief administrative officer of the City.  Any resident who resides in the municipal limits of Three Forks, who is 18 years of age or older, and a citizen of Montana and qualified elector pursuant to Article IV, Section 2 of the Montana Constitution is eligible to hold office.

The City Council is scheduled to meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, at 6:00PM at City Hall, which is 206 Main Street, Three Forks. (The 4th Tuesday of the month meeting is held as needed, based upon agenda items.)
